Centennial Singer Featherweight Makeover

This little workhorse had a very hard previous life, was very bad cosmetically when we got her.  My husband, who is a spray paint master, took her down to bare metal and repainted her with automotive paint. Complete with a silver decal set, she is a beauty once again!

Here she is 'Before':

You can see that the finish is in bad shape with rubbed off decals, the clear coat was filmy and missing in places, 50 year old tape residue (aka concrete!), and she also had a chipped power receptacle on the right. But she is a Centennial and sews great.  She deserved a makeover!

Here she is 'After':

I don't agree with repainting Featherweights that are in perfectly great condition.  But this one was not in good shape!  Now she is brand new and ready for another 60 years of sewing.

  1. Congrats on a great job! Even the foot control looks new! WooHoo! Might be hard to sell this one, huh? (since she's the first and all)

  3. I adore the color you have given to this Featherweight! I love old sewing machines too, but only have one Featherweight. I will start following you, well done for giving a new life to the old machines - Hugs Nat

  4. I'm not normally a fan of repainted Featherweights -- especially when people do it with a metallic car paint -- but your turquoise Featherweight is super cute. I know that was never an original color from the factory, but it looks so good that it SHOULD have been! Your husband did a great job.

    1. Thank you! He is an expert spray painter because he also makes rockets. I knew it would turn out beautifully. Next up is a violet one for a friend, that machine is in even worse condition than this one was. Can't wait to see it like new!
